We'll be basing our art project on Disney's Fantasia 2000.
We'll watch a segment, talk about what kind of feelings it generated, learn what the artist's objectives might have been, then create art inspired by the piece.

Neither of my own children "like" classical music, but they LOVE Fantasia! We're going to try working some of your goals into the meetings from here on out. IF you have another goal to share, comment below!
ReplyDeleteA 4-H Project must be a minimum of 6 hours. When we shortened the meeting times, we lost 2 hours, so we decided to add activities at home for the week "off". Reminder, nothing is required. You won't be kicked out of the club if you don't complete 6 hours in a project, but you won't get recognition for it.
ReplyDeleteSo, for this at home activity, we watched Carnival of the Animals in preparation for the watercolor paints activity. Following the directions on the handout page 11 for Wild Art, play with the watercolors (to let the paint dry, you might need to put it away for a day and finish another day, or use a hairdryer without pushing the paint around!). Write some notes down about what you notice happening (in your record, Project Journal Part II) to the watercolors using the different techniques. Finally, paint a picture of your favorite animal. It's O.K. if it's a little Surreal, or Abstract! Try using some of the different watercolor techniques when you paint the picture. Take notes as you go with what technique you used where on your painting. We'll share these on November 11.
Can you do a watercolor caricature? How about a watercolor Surreal piece, or abstract? Could you add watercolors to a single line drawing? What feelings can you create with color? It's going to be a rainy weekend, can you find a quiet spot to do some art and see if you can mimic the weather? Or, can you turn someone's mood around when the weather has them down with a cheerful painting?

ReplyDeleteCan you use pointillism to draw a depiction of your favorite Thanksgiving food? Would Impressionism or Fauvism better represent your holiday?
ReplyDeleteIf you are going to continue using the materials (paints & pencils) AND keeping track of what you do in your record, please, keep the materials as long as you like. If you are finished with them, please return them at the next business meeting so we can put them with supplies for the future.
