Playing some of the most classic strategy games will help us learn! We'll take a look at our plans at the beginning of the game, what our opponents do to change our plans, and patterns we might see.

ReplyDeleteA 4-H Project must be a minimum of 6 hours. When we shortened the meeting times, we lost 2 hours, so we decided to add activities at home for the week "off". Reminder, nothing is required. You won't be kicked out of the club if you don't complete 6 hours in a project, but you won't get recognition for it.
ReplyDeleteSo, for this at home activity, play some games! If no-one at home is willing to play with you, there are lots of online games available. I was playing Connect 4 on this site for a while... and Tic Tac Toe from here. Be sure a parent knows you are playing games online for 4-H! Throughout your games at home, be sure to take notes in your record, Project Journal Part II, what your thinking was! We'll talk about the games you played, and what strategies you used on November 11.
Sequence! was the game 11/11. Some strategies worked well, others were given plenty of time to pan out, but didn't work as well as the players hoped.
ReplyDeleteWhat games can you play by yourself that require strategy. Has anyone ever played Solitaire -- with cards NOT on the computer? The strategy I use is... don't cheat! You can cheat with cards, you can't cheat with the computer.
The next rainy, icky, don't want to be outside weekend, find a quiet spot to play a game on your own. Try Googling solo strategy games, or solo card games, and see what you get. I also play a game called Zilch with dice that I play a lot with Tavi. Sometimes I play by myself and just change the "goal". What game can you adapt to play solo?
Is Thanksgiving a day for games in your family? Could you make a decision tree for what you chose to eat for Thanksgiving?!!!
